My favorite pastime, however, was pretending to be a famous actor in my own “family puppet theater.” I could strike such a dramatic pose and deliver lines with such fervor that it would have impressed Shakespeare. I didn’t mind that my spectacular monologues often ended with me falling off the stage in a heap of laughter and sawdust.
The residents adored me, and visitors from far and near came to admire a little wooden puppet with a big personality. I was more than just a puppet, I was a symbol of the joy, creativity and timeless charm of traditional Czech puppetry.
And so I continued to put a smile on the face of everyone who had the pleasure of watching my playful antics, a small but powerful testament to the magical world of handmade puppets.
